Nature Class

Taught by Rowena Conahan

Forest and fields, marshes, rivers, ponds, grand vistas and tiny miracles, mysteries of the wild and familiar comforts - find them all in Nature Class, for children ages 3 - 10.

Nature Class will gather for a brief orientation, and, from there, adventure into the Sunward forest and fields, learning as we go. Class will include about an hour of instruction, storytelling and organized games, and an hour of play in the wild spaces. During most classes we'll visit the Nature Study Area where we'll build a campfire, cook snacks, explore primitive shelters, and swing in the hammock.

Classes cost $5 per child. A parent or other caregiver must attend with each child. Please call to indicate interest. If the weather looks iffy, call me to ask for a current plan (734-665-2677).

Dress for the wilds. We sometimes encounter poison ivy or stinging nettle (though we'll point these out and be on the lookout for them). Long pants and sleeves are recommended, as are closed shoes. Bring water, bugspray, and anything else you'll need to be comfortable outdoors for a couple of hours.

Community Quoteables “It is possible that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community - a community practicing understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mindful living. This may be the most important thing we can do for the earth.” -Thich Nhat Hanh
