Our Purpose

trois amigos of Sunhouse We have joined together for the purpose of creating a great collective home for ourselves! This is a place that is a joy to return to, supportive of our lives, work, and service, a foundation for friendships, filled with laughter, music, art, yummy food, responsive to, and supportive of life's challenges, respectful of diversity, earth friendly, and a strong contributing household to the Sunward Community.

We recognize that cooperative living is an ever-evolving work in progress. Miscommunication is bound to happen. Tempers will flare. Feelings will be hurt. And most of the time the collective effort of creating a sense of place, a community, will lift our spirits and make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We acknowledge the minefield and we enjoy the dance together as we move through it. To this end, house participation, being social, and doing chores are essential and should be high in everyone's personal priorities.

Even More About Us

Diversity of background and interests enrich our experience while common threads tie us together for a rewarding living environment. Cooperative living experience is a must along with a sincere desire to live in a consensus-based community. We love the land and thrive in village life. Keeping clean and neat common areas and sharing in the upkeep of the house are priorities, especially in the kitchen! Laughter, art, and music highlight our home. We do Not smoke, use drugs, or have TV in the house. We enjoy cooking organic vegetarian cuisine for each other and for community meals in the Common House. We love tempeh! We share a commitment to open, honest communication and good group process. A common kitchen pantry, shared, chores, utilities, computer network, and phone enhance our experience. We are fun-loving, progressive folks. Gardening has been a popular pursuit of members and we have extensive organic garden space to practice the art. Participating in, and following the norms of, the wider Sunward Community is fundamental to life here.
